I see nature around me as a story to be told or a lesson to be learned. As an artist, I immerse myself in the world around me and try to present my findings to others in hopes that they may discover meaning in it as well. My recent work involves mixed media paintings that capture nature’s battle with humanity while in pursuit of understanding my own feelings about the organic vs. structured parts of my life. While traveling in Spain this spring, the wildflowers became an inspiration to me. I could see that they were defiant against the cityscapes they were growing in. They were reclaiming ownership of spaces that humanity had influenced, which in turn inspired me to begin taking back ownership of the natural, fluid aspects of my scheduled life.
